The sun was out for game between the youth of Shireshead and the experience of Milnthorpe.  On a fast outfield Shireshead got the score board racing along and were well set at the drinks interval at 84-2.  Ernie Collinson (27) was in and James Sutcliffe (40) was hitting the ball cleanly.  From this point on the game started going away from Shireshead and a mid order collapse saw the score move to 114-8 after 30 overs.  Mindful to bake the Milnthorpe players in the afternoon sun, Jonty Collinson (29) and Joe Letchley (13) played cautiously and attempted and give the Shireshead bowlers a total to bowl at.  156 for 8 would prove difficult to defend with such a fast outfield.  Moorby (29), Robertson (54) and Bowman (54) used their years of experience and played steadily in the face of some accurate bowling from the young Shireshead attack.  Short on luck the chances never went the Shireshead way but the game went to the 39th over before Milnthorpe hit the winning runs.  A superb effort from Shireshead’s youthful side will serve them well as they move through the season.
