Shireshead firsts remain pointless at the foot of the Divison 1b table with a thumping defeat at the hands of Burneside. Burneside made light work of Shireshead’s paltry total of 78 all out. Joe Oliver top scored with 16 and was one of only two players to reach double figures. Matt Hartley took 5 for 13 of his 12 overs. Burneside reached the target it only 18.1 overs loing only one wicket, with Simon Huck making 50. A win against fellow strugglers Trimpell next Saturday is a must if they are to rescue their season.
On Sunday, it was more of the same in the National Village Knockout against Edgeworth. The visitors were bowled out for only 91 with Dave Jack taking 5 wickets for 16 runs and veteran Phil Oliver 4 for 17. Shireshead’s reply was disastrous as they slumped to 17 for 6. Dave Jack then hit 31 but they could only muster 58 all out which included seven ducks.
