Shireshead 183-9, Holme 146ao.

After electing to bat, Shireshead lost an early wicket as Holme struck removing Paul Yates in the third over.  Opener Steve Yates, kept the score ticking along hitting 29 from 24 balls, with three fours and two sixes, before being bowled in ninth over with score 42-2.

Gareth Bleasdale continued to attack reaching 21 before being run out. Joe Cunliffe, 44, kept the scoreboard ticking over while wickets fell at over end. At 125-7 in 33rd over Andrew Murphy came in and delighted the crowd with an exhibition of clean hitting.

He reached 45 off just 20 balls with just 11 scoring shots, three fours and five sixes, before ‘top edging’ the ball into his eye. He had to leave the pitch, and was very unfortunate to miss out on his maiden half century for the first team but a hospital visit was needed to have the cut above his eye glued.

Shireshead’s innings finished on 183-9. The pick of the bowlers for Holme were C. Weiss 3-50 and J. Varden 2-52.
Holme innings started brightly with P. Duckett, 17, and L Teasdale, 38, scoring freely before Duckett was run out in the eighth over. Wickets then fell regularly and at 88-8 it looked like the game was over but S. Shipperd, 31, and J. Varden,17, had other ideas putting on a 50-run partnership for the ninth wicket.

However Holme ended up all out for 146 securing a bonus point. Pick of bowlers for Shireshead were Dave Jack 4-66 and Phil Oliver 3-31.
