Shireshead 1 173-7Burneside 69 all out
Shireshead 1stteam claimed their second win of the season with a comprehensive victory against Burneside.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat, Shireshead made a solid start with Joe Cunliffe, 23, and Thomas Jacques.
When Jacques departed for 21, Simon Gould came to the crease to continue his run of good form with a fluent 61.
A mini collapse followed Gould’s dismissal but a breezy 36 from Philip Oliver including three sixes from the final over moved Shireshead to what looked like a challenging total of 173 for 7.Chris Dixon and Ethan Ellwood picked up three wickets apiece for Burneside.
Burneside lost an early wicket and from that point the innings never really got going. Impressive opening spells from Dave Jack and Irfan Qayyum stifled any hope Burneside had of ever making the target.
Dave Jack bowled accurately and with hostility at times to make life uncomfortable for the Burneside batsmen and took well-deserved figures of 6 for 39.
Only Marcus Oates and Lee Tattersall made double figures as the introduction of Joe Oliver (3 for 10) hastened the end of the innings with some consistent wicket to wicket bowling.
Supported by some excellent fielding, Shireshead were good value for the win and wrapped up the full 15 points with over 10 overs to spare.
