Carnforth 124 all out Shireshead 66 all out
The firsts lost the opening match at home against a strong Carnforth side who posted 124 after being put into bat.
Opener Ryan Nelson scored 45 before being trapped lbw by Phil Oliver and Adam Hornby also claimed 45 before he was caught by Adam Murphy off David Jack, who was the pick of the Shireshead bowling with 5-62 off 23 overs. Irfan Qayuum and Oliver both took two wickets.
Shireshead lost opener Tom Jacques in the first over for eight and partner Nick Rafferty top scored with 30 before he was caught behind. No-one else got into double figures as wickets fell regularly and Shireshead fell to 66 all out in the 32nd over. Carnforth’s Darran Nelson and Tom Parkinson both chipped in with four wickets.
