After such a long, wait for recreational cricket to get the go ahead Shireshead 1sts slumped to an emphatic defeat away against Heysham 1sts. Heysham had clearly struggled to respond to the short period of notice for preparation of the ground and the wicket but Shireshead elected to bat and found the going tough. Openers Jacques and Murphy bravely weathered the conditions and some niggardly Heysham bowling but could amass only 10 runs between them in 80 balls as Powers and Parker dictated progress. Following their removal all batsmen found it tough going, only skipper Jack making double figures in the top and middle order. However, Matt Yates (18) and Jack Dodd (26) took Shireshead towards a position where they might have a total to bowl at, putting on 50 for the 8th wicket, but the innings ended tamely on 123 in the 42nd over.

Heysham made light work of the reply knocking off the target in 30 overs with Jamie Antcliffe carrying his bat for 68 and Keegan making a fine 47 not out, the pair putting on 82 for the second wicket.
