Shireshead 141 – 9 Penrith 2nds 143 – 3

On a perfect summer’s day at Clifton Park, Shireshead seconds batted first against a very strong Penrith side.

After an excellent start, wickets started to fall regularly as the home side struggled to post a competitive target.  Tom Wilson, 22 not out, Jake Gould, 20, and Ryan Danson, 16 were the pick of the seconds’ batsmen.

But after the 45 overs Shireshead had posted a modest 141. In the blazing heat Shireshead’s captain Colin Twiname rotated the bowling attack to try and put pressure on the Penrith batmen.

Malcolm Taylor, 3-40, was the pick of the home side’s bowlers as he took all the of the Penrith wickets, but the day belonged the Penrith’s Henry Marshall, 61 not out, who never looked in trouble and carefully crashed any loose balls to the boundary.
