Shireshead 3rds 121 – 9   Netherfield 4  122 – 3

Shireshead 3rds won the toss and decided to bat on a superb afternoon for cricket at Clifton Park.

The home side started well with Mark Sutcliffe, 41, and Simeon Glen who put on 43 on for first wicket before Neil McConnell took a diving catch at gulley to remove Glen for 14.

Wickets fell steadily as the innings meandered to 121 for 9, with only John Coates 19 and James Sutcliffe 11 putting 20 on for the seventh wicket able to apply any pressure on the fielding side. With a par score of 150 it was always going to be a challenge to defend.

After a well-executed run out by Adam Coates at 28 for 2 gave the fielding team hope, an excellent bowling and fielding display ensured the game went to the penultimate over with Vijay Gangalam, 8-2-16-1, Elliot Dean 5-2-18-0, Adam Coates, 7-0-21-0, and Alan Moulsdale, 10-4-16-1, all bowling well.

Charlie Nichols, 33, Dan Curwen 31no and Neil McDonnell 32no saw Netherfield home to secure all 15 points.
